Diakonos Counseling
A Private Mental Health Counseling Center since 1981

Diakonos Counseling is excited to announce that Dr. Pringle’s first day counseling in Warrensburg, Missouri was Wednesday January 8, 2014.  He will be in his new office in Warrensburg every Wednesday thereafter.  As the counseling needs grow, Dr. Stephanie Fidler, Diakonos Executive Director, will follow by beginning to see clients each week on Fridays.  Diakonos has leased the counseling suite at First Baptist Church and plans to make every effort to launch a successful counseling initiative to the whole community and the military community in particular.  Dr. Pringle is a retired Missouri Army National Guard Chaplain of 23 years and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri with extensive experience working with military families.  Dr. Fidler is a licensed psychologist in the state of Missouri and also has extensive experience working with military families, especially children.  Please pray for our efforts to provide professional counseling to the people of Warrensburg and other surrounding communities.  You can help this effort by doing two things in addition to your prayers.  First, share this information with everyone you know by sending them this message and an invitation to visit the Diakonos website (www.DiakonosCounseling.com).  Second, watch for and share with all your contacts the upcoming posts from Dr. Pringle on Resiliency.  This will be multiple posts about the many important aspects of developing resilient lives.  Thank you for your interest in Diakonos Counseling and your willingness to tell others about the work we do!

Why Diakonos:

Diakonos Counseling has been in the mental health business for over 30 years and has more than 100 years of combined experience between our current therapists.   Quality of care is the #1 goal at Diakonos.  Our group of professional counselors operate differently than other groups in the Kansas City area--they routinely meet together, strategize together, counsel together and partner together to make sure they are giving clients the highest quality of care possible.  Our therapists are great listeners, but they do more than listen. They will listen and then help their clients take positive actions toward fuller, more satisfying lives.

We are a private practice that has maximized personal care and clinical treatment without becoming over-burdened with policies and organizational complexities.  This allows our compassionate and professional therapists the freedom to provide patient-driven therapy which generates the highest level of care and proven results.  All our full-time therapists are licensed by the state and meet the standards required for continuing education.  Our team is a multi-disciplinary group of Licensed Clinical Psychologists, Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Workers.  We are committed to providing exceptional custom care and attention to our clients to achieve optimum well- being.

We offer a private and comfortable environment for face-to-face sessions at our Independence office.  We also offer Skype or Telephone counseling if you are unable to make it to our office.  We specialize in providing care for seniors, adults and children. We believe in a healthy approach to healing life's problems through integrating sound Christian principles for the mind, body & spirit.

    Mind, Body & Spirit Approach:

Our mission is to encourage people facing emotional or relational difficulties through wise counsel based on Christian principles.  We plan to equip and empower individuals or organizations through the use of specific communications designed to bring valuable insight that changes lives.  Diakonos Counseling offers compassionate care for those struggling with painful emotions, distorted thinking, and troubling behavior, as well as those desiring personal growth and more satisfying relationships. Our therapists are comfortable and experienced at integrating clients’ religious & spiritual beliefs with the therapy and healing process. Treatment is personalized to meet the individual needs of each participant.

Therapists are available to lead conferences and speak on topics of interest to your church, business, or organization.

If you are not familiar with Diakonos and your first contact with us is online, we would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are.  We will be more than happy to help.

Stephanie A. Fidler, Psy.D.
Clinical Psychologist
Executive Director

Finding the Right Fit:

Diakonos Counseling believes in setting you up with the best possible therapist to fit your needs.  The quality of care you receive from the first phone call is treated with the highest professionalism and confidentiality.  Our support staff will take your information and get a brief explanation as to what the issue is you would like to discuss.  This information is then passed on to the executive director or president to review and make a decision regarding which therapist best fits your needs.  The chosen therapist will then give you a call for a FREE 10 minute phone consultation to introduce themselves and to discuss your situation with NO obligation.

If we feel that we do not have a counselor who can adequately serve your needs, we will gladly join with you in the process of searching our area to help find a qualified mental health professional to assist you.

The History of Diakonos Counseling:

Dr. Larry Cornine and his wife Dorothy founded Diakonos Counseling in 1981. Initially, the offices were located in the Central Professional Building on the Square in Independence, MO. We are currently located at 4200 Little Blue Parkway, Independence, MO.  In 1995 Steve Pringle took the position of Executive Director and Dr. Cornine then sold the practice to Dr. Pringle and his wife Mary in 2000. Diakonos Counseling has experienced much growth including the addition of therapists. The present therapy staff includes psychologists, professional counselors, and social workers. The growth Diakonos has experienced allows us to enrich and broaden the services we provide. We remain committed to responding to the requests of individuals, pastors, and churches to provide professional Christian counseling and psychological services. Over the past 32 years many have placed their confidence in the professional skill and treatment available through Diakonos Counseling.
